Suzy Catliff  is a theatre director, casting director, acting coach, lecturer and published author.  She trained at Bretton Hall and then completed the director’s attachment at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

Most recent theatre directing – Bernada Alba by Michael John LaChiusa, Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts, various actor and musical theatre showcases,  'A Little Night Music' with the final year students at LIPA, 'Three Little Birds' at the New Diorama for All the Pigs Theatre Company, 'Love and Lust in Lewisham' at the Tristan Bates Theatre as part of the Camden Fringe Festival, the final year BA (hons) acting showcase for LIPA,  performed at the Criterion Theatre and theh Unity in Liverpool.  

‘Shrew’s Who?’ an innovative cross cast rehearsed reading of The Taming of the Shrew at the Henley Fringe Festival and a new version of ‘Before the Night is Through’ performed as a script in hand reading on a boat, also at the Henley Fringe Festival.  

In 2012 Suzy directed ‘Bright Lights, Big City’ for Trinity Laban at the Albany Emipre in Deptford.

2011 was a watery summer with 'Listed Lido' for Listed Theatre, a site specific piece in Tinside Lido, Plymouth.  

She has directed numerous productions for Mountview Academy including 'Rent' at the Bernie Grant Centre, Tottenham; 'How Long the Waiting' at the Caramel Club; 'A Chorus Line' at the BAC.  ‘Dolly West’s Kitchen’ Pleasance Theatre,  ‘Semi Monde’ Judi Dench;

Suzy directed 'The Baltimore Waltz' for Lucky Stuff Productions at the Brighton Fringe Festival 2010.  After directing the West Country Tour of  'Tess of the D'Ubervilles' for BOVTS.

 She directed world premiers of the comedy murder mystery musical ‘Before the Night is Through’ by Olivia Thompson at the Millfield Theatre, ‘The Rule of Three’ by Jennifer Granville in the US and a rehearsed reading of the musical version at the Jermyn Street Theatre;

Previous theatre directing includes Writer/director of ‘Refuge’ - for CRYPT at the Warehouse Theatre, Croydon.  ‘Up N Under’, ‘Our Day Out’ – Harrogate Theatre, ‘A Midsummer’s Night Dream’ - York Theatre Royal. ‘The Boyfriend’, Grimsby.  Adaptations include: ‘The Country Wife’ & ‘The Changeling’.  

Suzy is Artistic Director of Lucky Stuff Productions and directed their inaugural production of ‘Lucky Stiff’ at the New Wimbledon Theatre Studio in September 2005.  

Suzy’s recent casting credits include 'Breakthrough' a short film directed by Damien Goodwin starring Patrick O'Kane, Blake Ritson and Gillian Kearney and the UK casting on 'Primeval New World' and on the last two series of 'Primeval' for Impossible Pictures;  UK casting for Shaftesbury Films on 'The Inspector Murdoch Mysteries', series 1 to 6; ‘A Bunch of Amateurs’ (feature) starring Burt Reynolds; television series include: ‘Lifeline’ and ‘Empathy’, 2 series of ‘Silent Witness’ and 3 series of ‘Casualty as well as numerous one-off dramas.  She cast the award winning documentary drama ‘D-Day’ for the BBC.  Casting associate film work includes Francois Ozon’s ‘Swimming Pool’ and ‘Stormbreaker’.   Other casting work includes BBC 1’s ‘D-Day’ and ‘Ny-Lon’ for Channel 4.  Casting Assistant work includes the feature films ‘Sense and Sensibility’ , ‘Hackers’ and ‘The English Patient’.

Suzy is a member of the Casting Directors Guild of Great Britain, has twice been a judge on the Olivier Awards panel.
